TBE Buffer

TBE Buffer, composed of Tris-borate-EDTA, stands out as a widely employed buffer for DNA and RNA polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. Suitable for both non-denaturing and denaturing (7 M urea) gels, it is a staple in DNA automated sequencing gels. Although applicable to agarose gels, caution is advised against its use in preparative gels intended for nucleic acid recovery due to the strong inhibitory effect of borate on many enzymes.
